AICPIN for Industrial Workers on base 2001=100 for the month of October, 2009




All India Consumer Price Index Numbers for Industrial Workers on base 2001=100 for the month of October, 2009



All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of October, 2009 increased by 2 points and stood at 165 (one hundred and sixtyfive).





During October, 2009, the index recorded a maximum increase of 7 points each in Siliguri and Darjeeling centres, 6 points each in Surat and Munger-Jamalpur centres, 5 points each in Lucknow, Ranchi-Hatia, Godavarikhani, Vododara, Asansol, Ajmer and Warrangal centres, 4 points in 5 centres, 3 points in 19 centres, 2 points in 20 centres and 1 point in 14 centres. The index decreased by 1 point in Chhindwara centre, while in the remaining 8 centres the index remained stationary.





The maximum increase of 7 points in Siliguri centre is mainly on account of increase in the prices of Rice, Wheat Atta, Urd Dal, Onion, Vegetable items, Sugar, Tea Leaf, etc. Similarly, the increase of 7 points in Darjeeling centre is due to increase in the prices of Rice, Wheat Atta, Urd Dal, Moong Dal, Pork, Fish Dry, Onion, Vegetable items, Sugar, etc. The increase of 6 points in Surat centre is due to Rice, Wheat, Wheat Atta, Moong Whole, Dairy Milk, Onion, Vegetable items, Kerosene Oil, Trouser Cloth (Synthetic), etc. In Mongher-Jamalpur centre the increase of 6 points is due to Rice, Milk (Buffalo), Onion, Vegetable items, etc. However, the decrease of 1 point in Chhindwara centre is mainly due to Rice, Vegetable items, Clothing Items, etc.





The indices in respect of the six major centres are as follows :



1. Ahmedabad - 158



4. Delhi - 152



2. Bangalore - 173



5. Kolkata - 167



3. Chennai - 154



6. Mumbai - 164






The point to point rate of inflation for the month of October, 2009 is 11.49% as compared to 11.64% in September, 2009.

  1. Can someone please give the CPI at Dec 2009 level when the DA was raised to 27%. This will give some idea to ignoramuses like me to form an idea about what to expect in the next DA installment.
